What is "harmony"?
China has a history of about 5000 years. In the vicissitudes of history and the transformation of consciousness, religions, philosophies, politics, economics, and different peoples have brought the complexity of various cultures. These integrated elements eventually formed the highest state of Chinese culture: harmony (also known as "harmony"). "Harmony" can be traced back to Confucian ideas of harmony, most of which emphasize three main harmonious relationships. First, the harmony between man and nature. In Chinese culture, human life is a part of nature. Second, the harmony between people. According to Confucius, one cannot do without the community and society. Therefore, interpersonal harmony is very important to us. Third, inner harmony. Chinese thought emphasizes that people should not only understand the external world, but more importantly, improve their inner mentality or pursue the inner world of a "gentleman", the so-called gentleman. All of these reflect the essence of Chinese culture and resonate with universal human values. This is perhaps why Confucianism in the 21st century is of interest not only to the Chinese, but also to the rest of the world.
What does "harmony" mean?
This concept is still embodied in the daily life of Chinese people. Give two examples: One is about Chinese cuisine. Authentic Kung Pao Chicken has multiple layers of flavors such as sweet, sour, salty, and spicy, but these complementary and even opposing flavors are blended together, so "harmonious". Hence, its name has spread all over the world. Another is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It provides a holistic picture and worldview, which means that our bodies are in harmony with the environment and the universe. Our internal organs make up a physical universe in which they also need to coordinate with each other. So, hehe, it has been reflected in the daily life of Chinese people.
